Just walking through the Olafur Eliasson exhibit at the MCA made me ache for the photog-friendly turbine hall at Tate Modern. Art on such a grand scale is so underserved by the usual restrictions on photography. Then again, it’s my general opinion that, some fragile classics aside, there’s just no reason to made the photographic pollination of art so stupidly difficult.
Difficult, but not impossible. Afterall, the MCA’s high-traffic, possibly free-to-photograph lobby is open enough to allow for most visitors to steal a shot (or shots) of “Room for One Color” — an absolutely amazing hall of “monofrequency lights” that made the world turn a disorienting and surreal greyscale.
